MEN JUST DO THINGS

About Us

The Menders Club is part of the Men’s Shed Association. It is a creative space established by the men who attend. Its purpose is to provide a space for men over 50 to come together to meet up, to talk and share or learn skills in a Workshop environment. Menders was started by Age UK Lewisham and Southwark, following demand from local older people and with the support of a generous grant from the Big Lottery Funds Awards For All.

By providing this safe space, Menders help address many issues facing older people, such as reducing isolation and improving health and wellbeing.

In our workshop we:

  • Have space, resources and tools for members to learn and create in woodwork

  • Run activities to teach members how to use power tools (saw, drill grinder)

  • Members can get involved in their own projects (someone is currently restoring a boat in the workshop)

  • Teach and use French polishing techniques to refurbish furniture

  • Teach members how to service and fix old bikes

If you are interested in finding out more just pop into the Peckham Shed, 167 Peckham Hill Street, SE15 5JZ to meet our members.

Opening times are:

Fridays:     11 am to 5 pm
                         &

Saturdays: 11 am to 5 pm
